Cabinet in the network operating center or data center should be set with a certain cleaning cycle. If not regularly cleaned and maintained, it will cause different degrees of failure. If the other equipment is damaged, overhaul costs will be high. This article will explain the skills of cleaning dust in the cabinet room.
1. Clean the motherboard
As the basic hardware of the entire equipment, it is the easiest to accumulate dust. When you clean the motherboard, remove all plug-in, remove the fixed motherboard screws, remove the motherboard, and brush the dust of the various parts with a wool brush. As for the operation, the power should be moderate, so as not to damage patch components on the surface. If the dust is too much, you can use anhydrous alcohol for cleaning. If the motherboard has temperature components, protect it in advance. If the dust is too much in the slot, use a hair dryer for cleaning.
2. Handle the connector clip
The connector clip on the surface can be cleaned with the method of cleaning the motherboard. If the plug-in is with the oxidation, the rubber can be used to carefully rub the gold finger, and after inserting into the motherboard, the two sides of the slot are filled with hot melt adhesive for gap to prevent dust’s entry and oxidation in the process of use.
3. Clean the fan
Fan blades usually will accumulate a lot of fouling. You can hand against the leaves one by one with a brush to clear away dust, and then use a damp cloth to clean and wipe inner side of fan frame. You can also add some lubricant to the shaft to improve its performance and reduce noise. For the separated structures like fan and the heat sink, they can be opened with water for cleaning or with a brush for blowing. For heat sink which cannot use hard brush to clean up the dust in the gap. After cleaning, the heat sink must be completely dry and then installed, it is recommended to apply appropriate amount of thermal grease on the re-installed heat sink to enhance thermal conductivity.
4. Clean the surface of the box
For the dust on the surface of the box, wipe with a wrung damp cloth. Pay attention to damp cloth as dry as possible to avoid residual water stains, and after that, dry it with the electric hair dryer.
5. Clean the peripheral plug and socket
Generally, remove the floating dust with a brush, and then clean it with a hair dryer. If there is oil, you can use absorbent cotton balls dipped in anhydrous alcohol for removal.
6. Clean the power supply
Power is the equipment which is very easy to gather dust, and seriously affected by the temperature. If you are not a professional, do not dismantle privately. You can use the strong level of the hair dryer against the power inlet air to blow dust, and use a hard brush clean fan blades across the fan filter.
Any equipment needs regular maintenance in order to extend the service life.
