The difference between industrial switch and general switch
2017-07-04

In terms of performance, industrial Ethernet switches and ordinary switches are not much different. From the network level, there are two switches, of course, there are three switches. Industrial Ethernet switch has a stress in its product design and component selection, which meets industrial field use needs. In the mechanical, climate, electromagnetic and other relatively poor circumstances, it is still able to work properly, so it can often widely used in the more harsh conditions of industrial production scenarios. So, what are the differences between industrial Ethernet switches and ordinary switches in the end?

1. Components

The selection requirements of industrial Ethernet switch components are higher, which should be able to better meet the needs of the industrial production site.

2. Mechanical environment

Industrial Ethernet switches are better able to adapt to harsh mechanical environments, including vibration resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, dust prevention, water prevention and so on.

3. Climate environment

Industrial Ethernet switches are better able to adapt to poor climatic environments, including temperature, humidity, and so on.

Industrial Ethernet’s operating temperature is -40 ~ 125 ℃; ordinary switch’s operating temperature is -40 ~ 75 ℃

4. Electromagnetic environment

Industrial Ethernet switches have strong resistance against electromagnetic interference.

5. Operating voltage

Industrial Ethernet switches work for a wide range of voltage, while the general switch requires a higher voltage.

6. Power supply design

Ordinary switches basically use a single power supply, and industrial switches’ power supply is generally dual power supply and is the backup for each other.

7. Installation way

Industrial Ethernet switches can use DIN rail, rack, and other installation ways while the general switches use generally rack, desktop mode. Industrial Ethernet switches adopt rail-type and rack-type installation, and general switches adopt desktop-type and rack-type installation.

8. Heat dissipation way

Industrial Ethernet switches generally use the fan-off shell for heat dissipation, and the general switches use the fan for heat dissipation.
