The diameter of the plastic fiber is generally 0.3 to 3 mm which is suitable for connection, and light coupling efficiency is higher relatively, and also the plastic optical fiber features lots of benefits like it’s soft, anti-bending, vibration resistance, anti-radiation, low-cost, easy construction. Instead of the traditional quartz fiber and copper cable, the plastic fiber is very suitable for the local area networks with many connection points.
There are two kinds of products needed for structuring large-scale LAN with the plastic optical fibers; they are passive cabling connection products and active plastic optical network devices.
