100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module

100G CWDM4 QSFP28 is the standard announced by CWDM4 MSA in 2014, it is 100G transmission mode based on single-mode coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technology. 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module that complied with this standard adopts duplex LC interface, and using four central wavelength (1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm and 1331nm) to transmit optical signal.  It is worthy note that 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module need to be used in optical fiber link which has forward error correction (FEC) function to ensure the stability of optical fiber transmission system.

100G CLR4 QSFP28 Optical Module

100G CLR4 QSFP28 is an optical module standard made by 100G LR4 League, similar to 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 optical module, this kind of optical module also uses single-mode coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technology, and adopts duplex LC interface, the transmission distance is 2km used with single-mode optical fiber. The difference is that the 100G CLR4 QSFP28 optical module can be used for both fiber links with forward error correction (FEC) functions and fiber links that do not have forward error correction (FEC) functionality. For the fiber link that have forward error correction (FEC) functions, 100G CWDM4 QSFP28 and 100G CLR4 QSFP28 optical module can be used together, while in the fiber link which have no forward error correction (FEC) functions, 100G CLR4 QSFP28 optical module also can maintain performance of low latency and low power. 100G CLR4 QSFP28 optical module of this feature makes it comes to be more popular in high-performance computing, high-frequency transactions and other areas.
