Cisco WS-C3650-48PQ-E Switch Overview
WS-C3650-48PQ-E belongs to the Cisco Catalyst 3650 Series Switches; Due to its enhanced features is best utilized in enterprise class businesses and can be used in multiple branch office networks or campus networks. Size of the business is usually medium size for this switch but it can be employed by small sized businesses as well. Cisco next-generation Catalyst WS-C3650-48PQ-E is the enterprise level standalone switch with stacking option for access-layer and distribution-layer design. WS-C3650-48PQ-E was built with 48 Gigabit Ethernet POE+ ports and 4 fixed 10G SFP+ (SFP+ is compatible with SFP) uplink ports in IP service feature set that support advanced layer 3 routing features and superior QoS capabilities. Cisco Catalyst 3650 series combines both wired and wireless connectivity on a single platform which takes unified Access Data plane (UADP)application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). Cisco StackWise-160 providing resiliency within the stack and up to nine switches stacking, providing simplified network management by using single IP address among the stack members. IP service features enable Flexible Netflow to optimize network infrastructure by monitoring traffic flows, which can identify the threat of network.

How to determine what types of optical transceivers for Cisco switches?
Summary
What is Cisco switch used for?
A switch connects devices within a LAN (local-area network) by using MAC addresses to identify where to send data packets. A router connects LANs to other area networks or to the internet. A router uses IP addresses to route data packets.
Is a Cisco switch also a router?
Cisco Router and switch, both are the connecting devices in networking. Where a router chooses the smallest path for a packet to reach its destination, a switch stores the arrived packets, process it and forwards it to the specified destination.
Check the key difference between a router and a switch,
1. A Cisco router connects different networks together whereas, a switch connects multiple devices together to create a network.
2. Routers work on the Physical layer; Data link layer and the Network layer whereas Switches, as well as advanced switches, work on the Data link layer and the Network layer too.
3. A Router determines the best path for packets from source to destination and switches receive, process, and forward them.
4. Routers perform 2 types of routing - Adaptive and Nonadaptive Routing. There are 3 switching techniques - Circuit, Packet, and Message Switching.
5. A router connects your network with different networks like two LANs, two WAN’s or LAN and WAN. A Switch connects different devices to create a network.
