Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4 Overview

This Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4 compatible QSFP+ transceiver provides 40GBase-SR throughput up to 150m over multi-mode fiber (MMF) at a wavelength of 850nm using a MPO connector. Digital optical monitoring (DOM) support is also present to allow access to real-time operating parameters. The transceiver is guaranteed to be 100% compatible with the equivalent Cisco transceiver. This easy to install, hot swappable transceiver has been programmed, uniquely serialized and data-traffic and application tested to ensure that it will initialize and perform identically. It is built to meet or exceed the specifications of Cisco, as well as to comply with multi-source agreement (MSA) standards to ensure seamless network integration.

Cisco QSFP-40G-CSR4

QSFP-40G-CSR4 is an extension product from Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4. Each 10-gigabit lane of this transceiver is compliant to IEEE 10GBASE-SR specifications. It extends the reach of the 40GBASE-SR4 interface to 300 and 400 meters on laser-optimized OM3 and OM4 multimode parallel fiber, respectively. QSFP-40G-CSR4 can be used for native 40G optical links over parallel cables with MPO/MTP connectors or in a 4×10G mode with parallel to duplex fiber breakout cables for connectivity to four 10GBASE-SR interfaces. The Cisco QSFP 40G-CSR4 is optimized to guarantee interoperability over the complete specification range of 10GBASE-SR.

How to connect two Cisco 40G QSFP+ SR4/CSR4 transceivers directly? A Type-B female MPO/MTP to female MPO/MTP cable is required. Figure 1 shows two Cisco 40G QSFP+ SR4 transceivers connected by a MTP female cable.
