- Do You Really know About Fiber Optic Cable?
Information age, the network has been closely linked with our lives.Electronic products play a significant role in our life. It helps to make us lives happy and easier. So the optical transceiver modules help us to use the network more high speed. Do you have a transceiver module? If you want to have a transceiver , I would recommend Cozlink.com . It is a worldwide leading manufacturer & supplier of fiber optic transceiver. And all our transceivers are 100% compatible with major brand as follows and backed by a lifetime warranty. For example, the hot selling products : cisco GLC-LH-SM. In Cozlink ,the SFP transceiver module was hot sellers. Today ,know the cisco GLC-LH-SM knowledge in this article.
Cisco GLC-LH-SM is hot – swappable and designed to plug directly into your SFP/GBIC interface slot in your router and switch for Ethernet & Fibre Channel network interface applications. It is a SFP fiber optic transceiver working at 1300nm wavelength, GLC LH SM could use with both multi-mode optical fiber and single mode optical fiber, it is small size transceiver with LC interface and it is hot swappable, easy to use, no need further configuration. GLC LH SM is used in Gigabit network and its working distance could reach 10km max, data transfer rate at 1Gbps and it works based on IEEE 802.3z standards. Our products are equivalent to Cisco GLC LH SM and compatible with Cisco equipment.
The GLC-LH-SM transceiver consists of three sections: a FP laser transmitter, a PIN photodiode integrated with a trans-impedance preamplifier(TIA) and MCU control unit. All modules satisfy class l laser safety requirements. The GLC-LH-SM module fully compatible with SFP Multi-Source Agreement(MSA).The GLC-LH-SM must be operated within the specified temperature and voltage limits. The optical ports of the module shall be terminated with an optical connector or with a dust plug.

Comparison between Cisco GLC-LH-SM and Cisco GLC-LH-SMD
Literally, there is little difference, obviously the “D”. Here, letter D means DOM functionality. DOM stands for digital optical monitoring. So Cisco GLC-LH-SMD has additional support for digital optical monitoring capability. DOM is utilized intending to define a digital interface to access real-time operating parameters, such as optical Tx power, optical Rx power, laser bias current and temperature as well as transceiver supply voltage. More specifically, it means that you can configure your device to monitor optical transceivers in the system either globally or by specified ports. When this feature is enabled, the system will monitor the temperature and signal power levels for the optical transceivers in the specified ports. Console messages and syslog messages are sent when optical operating conditions fall below or rise above the XFP or SFP manufacturer’s recommended thresholds. Digital optical monitoring is the main difference, but there are still some other differences between Cisco GLC-LH-SM and Cisco GLC-LH-SMD. Cisco GLC-LH-SM can bear the operating temperature range from 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F), while Cisco GLC-LH-SMD can bear the range from -5°C to 85°C (23 to 185°F).
Even though GLC-LH-SM has been no longer for sale in Cisco, many users still use it. Except the additional DOM function, Cisco GLC-LH-SM 1000BASE LX/LH SFP nearly has the same function with Cisco GLC-LH-SMD. And Cisco GLC-LH-SMD is more expensive than Cisco GLC-LH-SM 1000BASE LX/LH SFP. Cozlink offers both GLC-LH-SM and GLC-LH-SMD. No matter you still like to use GLC-LH-SM, or would like to have the new version GLC-LH-SMD, you can find relevant products in Cozlink at a relative low price. As for the quality, all Cozlink’s Cisco SFP modules are tested in-house to guarantee that they are in perfect physical and working condition before delivered worldwide.
