25G SFP28 DAC Passive Cable

SEESUO 25G SFP28 DAC cable, passive is a fast and cheap solution for easy connection of two network active switch/router elements at 1/10/25 Gbps without the need to purchase separate modules or other accessories (for example, optical patch cables). It goes without saying that multirate is supported, i.e. that in addition to SFP28 sockets it will be supported in both SFP and SFP+.

The quality twinax DAC cable comes with universal Cisco compatibility, which guarantees trouble-free use with most manufacturers of active elements. The DAC connecting cable is plugged directly into the SFP28 slot on the active element and immediately creates a connection at up to 25Gbps speeds. The connection using the DAC appears and behaves in the active element as a connection with classic SFP28 modules. Length 1m, passive design.

25G SFP28 DAC Cable (Passive, SFP28 to SFP28, 0.5~5 meter)

Optcore’s SFP28-25G-DAC-PxM is a hot-swappable passive direct attach copper cable assembly (also known as Twinax Cable or DAC) with SFP28 modules at both ends. It is developed specifically as a cost-effective and lower-power alternative to 25Gb SFP28 optics and Active Optical Cables (AOC), to meet the increasing needs of higher bandwidth in data centers.

The 25G SFP28 DAC cable fully complies with SFP28 Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) standards SFF-8402 and SFF-8432 specifications. It is designed for very short reach links in 25Gbps high-speed I/O interconnect applications such as high-performance computing (HPC) and high-density data center.

FAQ:

Q:Can this cable be used in the stack port of Cisco Meraki series device to achieve the switch stacking?

A:No, it can’t be used in the stack port of your device. SEESUO DAC & AOC can only be used in the business port of the switch to achieve virtual stacking, but can not be used in the stack port to achieve physical stacking. The stacking through the stack port of device belongs to physical stacking which needs a specific stacking cable, and it is under development for now.

Q:What makes 25G a logical speed choice for migration of next generation server and storage?

A:There are two major advantages of 25G technology. First, by offering a single-lane 25Gbps variant, 25G allows for optimization of the bandwidth available from switch-fabric design, which is typically viewed from a per-pin and therefore per-lane standpoint. And the other major advantage is it takes existing module form factors and optical plants factors, such as SFP28 and QSFP28, and allows for a breakout connection that is configurable as either 25G per lane or the full 100G without changing the port on the front of switches and the wholes physical infrastructure.

Q:What kinds of custom choices are offered in SEESUO.COM?

A:As for customized direct attach cables, SEESUO.COM offers regular custom choices such as compatibility, cable length, cable color, operating temperature, label pattern, label colors and etc. What`s more, SEESUO.COM welcomes any inquiry for customized products and solutions for all need and specifications.

Q:Hi, I need a DAC to connect Broadcom network card (Broadcom 57414 Dual Port 25Gb, SFP28 card) and Extreme network switch (Extreme VSP-7400-48Y), which cable can I order?

A:Hi, maybe you can try the customized DAC cables . I also need the cable to connect Broadcom and Extreme devices, my account manager recommended this cable and chose dual compatibility solutions.

Q:Is it possible to make it shorter than 0.5m? I'd like cables that are 0.2m and 0.3m. Also is it possible to change the color of the cable? I really them in white.

A:Yes, the shortest length we can make for 25G SFP28 Passive DAC is 0.3M. As for changing the color to white, since it's easy to be dirty, it's not recommended.

Why use 25G high-speed cable

The 25G technology is the basis of the 100G(4*25Gbps) Ethernet standard. The 25G high-speed cable consists of a copper cable and an optical transceiver at both ends. It uses connectors similar to those used in optical modules, but the connector modules on the high-speed cable do not have expensive lasers, which greatly reduces the cost of short-range applications.

There are two types of 25G high-speed cables: 25G SFP28 to SFP28 DAC and 100G QSFP28 to 4 SFP28 DAC. The 25G SFP28 to SFP28 DAC is an extremely cost-effective solution for short-distance link transmission. It can establish a 25GB link through the SFP28 port of the switch. It conforms to the IEEE P802.3by and SFF-8402 SFP28 standards and is widely used in data center or supercomputer center system scenarios.

100G QSFP28 to 4 SFP28 DAC is suitable for stacking and aggregation between short-distance big data devices. One end is 100G QSFP28 interface, and the other end is four 25G SFP28 interfaces, which can provide 100G data transmission for customers. Comply with IEEE802.3BA standard, SFF-8665/SFF-8679, IEEE 802.3bj, and InfinibandEDR standard. The 25G SFP28 DAC high-speed cable is widely used to connect 25G devices (such as servers and 25G Fiber Optic network adapters) and supercomputers. Since 25G Ethernet came out late, the application of optical communication products related to it has not been popularized. However, with the arrival of 5G networks, 5G fronthaul will usher in a substantial increase in the demand for 25G.

The prospect of 25G high-speed cable

The 25G technology is the basis of the 100G(4*25Gbps) Ethernet standard, and the 25G technology offers higher port density and lower cost compared to the 40G technology, so the 25G technology is promising. The current push by the 25G Ethernet alliance, cloud giants such as Microsoft and Google have proposed 25G and 50G Ethernet solutions, in addition, according to Dell 'Oro, the next generation of server speeds will reach 25Gbps. This means that more and more devices will choose 25G SFP28 DAC as the best network solution. With the rapid development of 25G Ethernet technology, 25G SFP28 to SFP28 DAC, and 100G QSFP28 to 4 SFP28 DAC type cable to meet the customer's 25G and 100G network requirements.

The SFP28 direct attach passive copper cable assemblies are a high-performance and cost-effective I/O solution for 25G Ethernet applications. The SFP28 copper cables allow hardware manufactures to achieve high port density, configurability and utilization at a very low cost and reduced power budget. The high-speed cable assemblies meet and exceed 25G Ethernet industry standard requirements for performance and reliability. PRODUCT PROBLEM
  • What installation considerations should be kept in mind when using 25G SFP28 Direct Attach Cables?
When installing 25G SFP28 DACs, ensure proper routing to avoid tight bends that could stress the cable. Verify compatibility with network switches and equipment, and maintain adequate ventilation to prevent overheating, as effective cable management contributes to both performance and longevity in high-density installations.
  • How does the length of the 25G SFP28 DAC impact signal integrity and overall performance?
Choosing the appropriate length for the 25G SFP28 DAC is crucial for maintaining signal integrity.
